Week 4 — The taproot

Some trees grow one deep central root — a taproot — that goes straight down and anchors everything else. This week we anchor: Jesus Christ as the single deep root that holds you.

One foundation

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11

You cannot lay two taproots. A tree can only go deep in one direction. Paul says it plainly: Jesus is the only foundation that was ever laid, and everything else we build on — reputation, grades, friends, feelings — is building on borrowed ground. Go deep here first, and everything else has a reference point.
