Week 4 — Good soil

A seed can have all the water and sun in the world — but if the soil is hard or full of weeds, it cannot grow. This week we get our hearts ready: soft, good soil for God's seeds.

But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Luke 8:15

Jesus told a story about a farmer scattering seed. Some fell on the path (the birds ate it), some on rocks (it dried up), some among thorns (it was choked), and some on good soil — and THAT one produced a crop. A good heart is soft, open soil.

Try it today

  • ✓Find the softest patch of soil or sand you can and press your finger in
  • ✓Say: 'Lord, make my heart good soil'
  • ✓When you hear God's Word today, keep it in your heart — don't let birds take it

Pray it today

  • Ask God to make your heart soft good soil
  • Thank Him that He is the farmer who plants in you
