Week 4 — The long way to the heart

The deepest anchor-work is the raising of the children — but it is long, mostly quiet, and results aren't quarterly. This week we tend the relationship that is the real curriculum: hearts, not just grades.

Train up a child

Tuesday · Day 2222 Sept
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

'The way they should go' can be read as the way their nature points — the specific shape God put in each child. Training isn't mass-producing obedience; it's finding the groove each heart was made for and aiming it Godward. You can't see the end result from here; the promise spans 'even when they are old.' You're planting for a harvest you may not witness. That's the long way, and it's worth it.

Try it today

  • Notice one strength in your child's 'way' today
  • Aim it Godward with one conversation
  • Plant one patient seed; don't demand the fruit today

Pray it today

  • Show me each child's unique 'way'
  • Let the long training yield faithful grown-ups
